Application Domain

The advantage of using featherlite has been proved in the following application domains:

  • Detailed Scheduling,

  • Other application areas where the configurable object model, the planning and scheduling or the process control functionality helped to build the applications rapidly.

Status

Soon after invention the featherlite framework soon reached a high level of maturity. Only a few months after we began to implement the first part of the framework, we implemented projects in industry with the associated high demands on stability, availability and performance. During the last years we permanently simplified, improved and extended the framework, while implementing industry strength projects at the same time. The featherlite components reached a high degree of

  • Stability, as proven in many industry strength projects,
  • Performance, since the components were fine-tuned for maximum performance during the past years,
  • Simplicity, since we permanently re-factored, whenever the components we too complicated and against the programmers intuition,

The featherlite framework now is also well documented. Beyond the Java documentation, we invested the time to provide short tutorials to start with and a book explaining the use and the extension of featherlite applications (see the featherlite documentation page).

To flatten the learning curve, we now also provide reference applications. These are stand-alone applications you can download and start to do the tutorials and to investigate the example scenarios shipped with the application (see the featherlite download page).

Last but not least, we made the featherlite framework free to use and freely available for development and can be downloaded on the featherlite download page.
