What is the featherlite framework?

The featherlite framework provides a basis to rapidly develop individualized solutions with a focus on, but not limited to, planning, scheduling and control in logistics and manufacturing.

The featherlite framework provides:

1. a framework to create individualized software solutions, mainly in the field of planning, scheduling and control in production and logistics
2. a library of re-usable software components that solve common problems in planning, scheduling and execution control,
3. a large set of run time components with pre-build algorithms
4. reference implementations for to quick start developing individualized solutions

When should I use featherlite?

There are many good reasons for using featherlite. We have used the framework in numerous industry projects (you can find some examples here), with different scopes and believe that featherlite is very useful, if you:

1. want to use featherlite planning and scheduling functions in a standalone application or as part of your own product
2. want to use featherlite execution control functions in a standalone application or as part of your own product
3. want to use the planning and scheduling functions of featherlite in a standalone application or as part of your own product
4. need a platform providing object composition configuration to build your own individualized application
5. need a platform for rapid prototyping or case studies in planning, scheduling and execution control
6. want to use the existing integration components
7. want to use commercial components based on featherlite that already solve specific problems for you
